Macallan Whisky sells for £1.5m

Macallan Scotch 60-year-old bottle of whiskey has set a new world record for around £ 1.5 million (£ 1,452,000) Sotheby pa business in London. A good and needy bottle is expected to sell for around £ 350,000-450,000. However, the final price exceeded the £ 1.2m record, set last year by another 60-year-old Macallan from the same box.

Manufactured 90 years ago and aged in European Oak for 60 years, the bottle is one of 40 bottles that Macallan confirmed were made from Cask 263 in 1986.

Of the 40 bottles that were towed, not all received Fine and Rare and Package certificates. Twelve were written by Pop Artist Sir Peter Blake, whose work has seen some of the most notable performances since the 20th century in black and white art and photography. The other 12 bottles had their own label created by Italian artist Valerio Adami.

Two 263 cask bottles were unmarked, the first was sold in 2001 and the second was sold in 2002, all at McTear’s, Glasgow. Of the two unmarked bottles, one was designed by Irish artist Michael Dillon. The bottle was sold in November 2018 for a global record of £ 1,200,000. Another unknown bottle is still unknown.

As a result, the logical conclusion is that only the remaining 14 bottles can be decorated with Fine and Rare letters. This is one of those bottles.
