One of the first attempts in the market to expand Web3 technology beyond the desktop will be made by Solana when it launches a mobile phone. A dApp store, the Solana SDK, and hardware private key security features will all be built into the phone.
Web3 Smartphone
A new mobile phone is being introduced by the Solana team.
Solana Labs CEO Anatoly Yakovenko announced the launch of Saga, an Android phone created with Web3 in mind, during a gathering in New York City today. Through the mobile decentralized apps (dApp) store on the phone, users will be able to download decentralized trading platforms and NFT marketplaces.
The Solana community will eventually be permitted to take part in the administration of the dApp store, which will be made available without charge by the development team.
One of the biggest cryptocurrency blockchains is called Solana. The protocol has drawn criticism for its high level of centralization and frequent failures despite being well known for its high throughput (65,000 transactions per second compared to Ethereum’s 30) and extremely low fees.
A 6.6-inch screen, 512 GB of storage, and 12 GB of RAM will all be featured on the Saga phone. Users can now pre-order it on the website for 100 USDC, even though Solana Labs doesn’t anticipate it to ship before the start of the 2023 fiscal year.
Other goods to be included on the device are a hardware-encoded Seed Vault for users to store their private keys in, as well as a Solana SDK, which offers a framework for developers to build and distribute their own mobile dApps.
The Solana community will eventually be permitted to take part in the administration of the dApp store, which will be made available without charge by the development team.
The revelation had no impact on the markets; at the time of writing, Solana’s SOL token was trading at about $ 36.5, down 2% from when it was first announced.
