In 2008, a number of friends in Vancouver realized that words were missing from our reporting in our country. The global news was global. The regions were disappearing. And, the locals seemed to disagree with his audience.

So they started writing down what kind of articles they wanted to read.

Hyperlocal stories that aim to help people foster a deeper connection with their city. Found for new restaurants. The rising stars at the beginning. Also a lot of wonderful people, places, and things going on in the middle.

And, fortunately, other people wanted to read it.

In 2016, eight years after the West, introduced ourselves to Toronto. Since then, we have been looking down, looking forward to finding our place as a reliable source of good things for every Torontonia.

Today, we are thrilled to announce that Daily Hive has found Torontoist.

For almost 15 years, the Torontoist has taken the life out of here in Toronto, and advocated for a better city. And you, his readers, loved the Torontoist why. Only a handful of media outlets in the city can say the same thing.

We are proud to be long-time followers – and, proud to be the new Torontoist owners.

To our new readers, we promise to continue the Torontoist legacy. Other than that, we were fans-first, like you. Anything you like about Torontoist will continue Daily Hive Toronto, with our little signature.
